Sunday spent

Had some orders to fulfill and sitting in the living room with the glorious sunshine stroking my back, I was in my crafty bubble with a nice cup of Irish cream latte and soothing sounds of jazz playing in the background… working away. Liking and loving it of course as I give each piece its own personal touch. It felt oddly, a little therapeutic.

A good few are being sent to Auckland, glad that the designs are doing some globe trotting! Happy Sunday my lovelies x

Love to mum

Happy Mother's Day from Rachel K Design

I’d just like to dedicate this post to both our mums back home. Mother’s Day is celebrated in May in KL. Thanks Mom for all the love, teachings and good values you have instilled in us. Love you lots ♥

With much gratitude…

Last week had been really exciting for me, I had a call from a retailer who carries independent designer’s as well as its own in house brand of gifts, cards and boutique stationery, and unusual collectibles with 6 stores in the UK. I must say, it was a great honour, and I like them a lot.

The cards I started with went through obsessive amount of tweaking, polishing and ‘what ifs’ and ‘why nots’ stages, something I relish in doing indulgently on my own time. It is every designer’s pleasure when time, pressure and cost are not at all a governing factor. Every single detail was a labour of passion and love. From picking the printer, quality of the paper, sleeves, envelopes, labels, ribbons and design selection to the style of the brand, it was hand picked and assembled by yours truly.

Mr M (although it was a ‘business’ meeting, you taught me the right way and I think you are really funny and kind at the same time) … Yeah he thought I was crazy, I thought it was just something I had to get right. Baby steps… I take it all in good stride, and thank you for the opportunity.

Melissa and Jackie, thanks for being so nice and helpful and it was great to make friends with the both of you, and for offering my products their first shelf space – at Your Handmade Home in the Mall at Sutton. If any one here is looking for awesome handmade tea cosies, aprons, bags, gifts and cushions, anything that’s sewn and made with passion, please have a look at all of Melissa’s lovely works here.

‘Mug shot’ ;)

Enjoying an afternoon creating listings and photographing my baby mugs :) If you would like to have one for yourself or to give it as a gift, they are available from my little Etsy shop.

Ever so excited when the package arrived, I love it! I love love love the two tone colour mug that complements well with the design graphics – modern vintage style with quirky typography simply sits well with a polka-dotted duck egg blue background printed on ceramic earthenware.

I am only producing this on a limited quantity to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, so if you are interested – I am accepting pre-orders:

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Mug Mockups

2012 Queens Diamond Jubilee Special Edition Mugs

Thanks to my lovely colleagues’ help and input, I have designed and enlist hubby’s help to mock this up for me on Maya just so that I am convinced to go ahead with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Limited Edition mug version from Rachel K Design! After much research and finalising the last bits, and boy was I fortunate to have found a corporate mug printer who agreed to do me a free sample, I am off to a good start (albeit slightly late). I am truly excited, and hopefully will get the mug sample soon. A big thank you to Tom Mellor and Michael Vine, who responded to my emails and request so quickly even on a Sunday!

Bags, posters all in the pipe line and being organised… boy have I been super busy this weekend! x

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee 2012 Tea Towels Design

Having created some designs to be made initially onto invitation cards to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee 2012, I toyed with the idea of having them printed on fabric instead – a tea towel to commemorate the occasion. As the production cost is significantly higher, I had to enlist the help of my fellow Facebook fans to select 1 out of the 4, and the majority of my friends had picked the red tea towel design with the tea set. Here’s the full set… which is your pick?
